This the view from Grandpa Clyde's, of the center of Quartz Hill, 50th and M.
I won a ribbon racing my soap box down that hill one year during the Almond Blossom Festival.
I had beat all the other cars, one by one, but dad apparently did something that was considered cheating or illegal when he built the car and so my ribbon was for how the car looked... I guess.
Grandpa owned quite a large piece of land during the 50's, and we lived at the bottom of the hill from their house when we moved to Quartz Hill, in 48 or 49. We then moved further down West Avenue M, which has been renamed Columbia Way, from 60th street to Sierra Highway. It then becomes E. Ave. M.
