Jane Pinheiro. Jane lived across the street from Clyde and Ednamae. She was a local artist. She and grandma started the Almond Blossom Festival in 1950, that is still running to this day.
Jane used to put on her flowered bathing suit, it had a skirt at the bottom, and get in grandpas pool. She would roll over on her back and fall asleep floating. The first time she did this and Clyde
saw her he called her name, she didn't answer. He thought she had drowned and jumped in to save her. LOL.
Jane had an annual spaghetti dinner at her home, I always looked forward to that.
Jane also taught me how to make copper drawings.
Jane's husband Joe worked for Pancho Barnes at her Happy Bottom Riding Club, when they first moved to the Antelope Valley.
There was a story going around that Joe, a member of the voluteer FD in Quartz Hiil, went to a fire. There was somebody trapped in their bedroom and the fire was too intense to get to them
through the house... Joe grabbed the window frame and yanked it right out of the house. Anyway, thats the way I heard it at 10 years old. Joe was about 5'7".
Jane's mother used to baby sit us kids. One time while doing the dishes Valerie & I started dueling with butcher knives... she told mom she would never baby sit us again.
