~ Delilah Hammer Ling 1838-1901 ~
Delilah Ling, nee Hammer, was born November 30, 1838, and died of erysipelas and pneumonia March 6, 1901, aged 62 y., 3 m., and 6d. She leaves 6 sons and 3 daughters, 1 being a soldier in the Philippines. Her husband, Isaac Ling, preceded her to his eternal home two years ago. She was converted at age 11 years and was a member of our church. She was a consistent, earnest, faithful Christian. She often went with her father, who was a minister in our church, when he filled his appointments. Just before her death she shouted the praises of God. She has 7 surviving brothers and sisters some of them quite well known in our local church and in the county. They are Cap. Hezekiah, Ex-Sheriff John B., Elizabeth Ling, Isabel Crist, William, Margaret *Harry (*this is a typographical error, should have read HARR, which was Margaret's married Name) and Dr. A.J. She will be greatly missed in her home and in Mount Union Class. The writer preached the funeral discourse from Rev. vii 9.13.14. F.J. STRAYER"
This was written by a member of her church, possibly F.J. Strayer. There were numerous typo's that I corrected.
