This was dads 2nd wife. In 1958, dad and Aldene were coming home from a party in his 58 Corvette, when he crashed into the side of Avens furniture store on the corner of Lancaster Blvd. and 10th street west. Dad received a broken collar bone and Aldene was killed. A lot of suppositions could be made here.

A couple of my friends came and knocked on my bedroom window, woke me up and took me to the hospital. I was standing in the ER next to dad when they told him that she was dead. He took it really bad for quite some time. Those suppositions were the main reason for his sadness. He had the local paper with her picture that was taken at the accident site. I could hear him crying in his room. I finally destroyed the paper. I don't think he ever asked where it was.

Since he was well connected in the community, knew the judge, he got a slap on the wrist when he went to court for drunk driving.
